Manage Users

Administrating your Home Agent with HAiku | TOC | Configuration

1.  Suspend accounts

The administrator has the possibility to suspend the users' accounts. This operation will send a mail to the user warning him that his account has been blocked, and he will not be able to login the web interface anymore nor to register with the Home Agent until his account has been reverted.

The account suspension can be done through the detailed information about an account from the HA administration page. The administrator has the possibility to specify the reason that lead to the account suspension.

The user will receive a mail with the reason of the account suspension if the administrator has given one and is encouraged to contact the operators when he has resolved the situation. Additionally, if the administrator has specified an URL for the Terms of Service in the configuration of HAiku, then it will also be included in the mail sent to the user.

The administrator should always give a reason to the account suspension and have a Terms of Service.

An administrator can block any type of account: simple users as well as other administrators, with one restriction though. It should remain at least one valid administrator on the Home Agent. This means an administrator can block himself if he is not the only administrator of the Home Agent.

Once a user has been blocked, he appears in a "blocked users" list on the HA administration page. The administrator then has the choice to directly revert the account or delete the account.

If the user has an active binding with the Home Agent (i.e. is currently using the Mobility service) then he will be able to use the service until his binding is over. It is the responsibility of the operator to limit the binding lifetime for Mobile Nodes registrations.

2.  Delete accounts

The administrator also has the possibility to delete any account, but not directly in order to prevent from abuses. The administrator will first need to suspend the account, then he can delete it forever. This means that the user won't be able to log in the web interface nor to use the mobility service with the settings that were attributed to him.

The eventual Mobile Nodes and Live CDs related to this account are also deleted.

To delete an account, go to the HA administration page and push the "delete" button for a specific account in the Blocked accounts list.

A deleted account cannot be recovered.

3.  Grant/remove administrative rights

An administrator can manage the role attribution through the detailed information about an account from the HA administration page. He can grant the administrative rights for simple users of the service and remove administrative rights from users having an administrator role.

There is one restriction though when removing administrative rights. It should remain at least one valid administrator on the Home Agent. This means an administrator can remove the administrative right for him if he is not the only administrator of the Home Agent.

When the administrative rights are granted to or removed from an account, this becomes effective when the user logs in the web interface. In particular, when an administrator removes the administrative right for him, he will be able to perform administrative task until he logs out and thus recover the administrative rights.

4.  Search for user

The administrator has the possibility to search for users depending on various parameters from the Manage Users page available in the administrative part.

The search is done on the login of a user, his firstname or lastname, its organization and the Home Addresses and Mobile Network Prefixes that are delegated to this user. When entering an IPv6 address, it should be done without the prefix length.

5.  Contact user

Administrators have the possibility to contact users directly from HAiku's interface. The mailing configuration is discussed in Configuration chapter.

5.1  Mail a user

From the "User details" page, the administrator has the possibility to send an email to a particular user.

5.2  Mail all users

From the "Manage users" page, the administrator has the possibility to send an email to all users that have registered with the service, including users which account has been blocked.
